The heart of any great institute is its library. MIMH boasts of a spacious, well equipped, up-to-date central library for students and faculty. It is one of the largest special libraries on mental health in the state of Maharashtra. Established in 1991, the library is located at a place that is convenient to students of all departments. The calm ambiance of library provides pleasant and quiet atmosphere for studies. The Library is fully air conditioned and under CCTV surveillance with Wi-Fi facility.
The Library is enriched with a wide variety of books, journals, magazines, CD-ROMs in the mental health disciplines and well equipped with modern facilities and resources. Open access system is followed hence the library is truly becoming the knowledge seeker’s hub.
The Library has been continuously enhancing and improving its facilities and is actively engaged in broadening the knowledge resources needed for high quality education. The library houses an impressive collection of 3347 books under the fields of Psychiatry, Psychology, Social Work, Psychiatric Nursing, Medicine, Neurology, Philosophy and other literary works of critical acclaim. To keep the minds of our Institute up-to-date with the newest knowledge and research, we have an ever expanding subscription to various national and international scientific journals.
We at MIMH give great significance to research, especially that done by our students and as a token of appreciation display the dissertations completed by our alumni with great pride and honour.
The library in MIMH contains more than 5000 books. There are both National and Internarional jouranals and periodicals related to the field of mental health and related subjects. The library subscribes to approximately 20 magazines, receives 10 to 15 newsletters, bulletins and annual reports from various organizaation and receives 5 local daily newspapers in English and Marathi. It also maintains paper-clippings in files on various topics related to mental health. The library is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday to Saturday. The library also has a collection of audio and video cassettes on subject of relevance to the mental hospital.
